To- By Percy Bysshe Shelley One word is too often profaned For me to profan it, One feeling too falsely disdain’d For thee to disdain it; One hope is too like despair For prudence to smother, And pity from thee more dear Than that from another. I can give not what man call love; But wilt thou accept not The worship the heart lifts above And the Heavens reject not,- The desire of the moth for star, Of the night for the morrow, The devotion to something afar From the sphere of our sorrow? We Were Dear to Each Other By Rabindranath Tagore Stray birds of summer come to my window to sing and fly away. And yellow leaves of autumn,which have no songs,flutter and fall there with a sign. O Troupe of little vagrants of the world,leave your footprints in my words. The world puts off its mask of vastness to its lover. It becomes small as one song,as one kiss of the eternal. It is the tears of the earth that keep her smiles in bloom. The mighty desert is burning for the love of a blade of grass who shakes her head and laughs and flies away. If you shed tears when you miss the sun,you also miss the stars. The sands in your way beg for your song and your movement,dancing water,Will you carry the burden of their lameless? Her wishful face haunts my dreams like the rain at night. Once we dreamt that we were strangers. We wake up to find that we were dear to each other. When You Are Old By William Butler Yeats When your are old and gray and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire,take down this book, And slowly read,and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once,and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur,a little sadly,how love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crod of stars.

When the Moon is on the WaveAriella Uliano 的 So We’ll Go No More A’RovingWarren Zevon 的 Lord Byron’s LuggageLeonard Cohen 的 No More A-RovingCockfighter 的 DestructionKris Delmhorst 的 We’ll Go No More A-RovingCradle Of Filth 的 The Byronic Man featuring HIM’s Ville ValoALPHA 60 的 The rock, the vulture, and the chain————-以上的是根据诗人George Gordon Byron的作品改编的歌(PS:的前面是艺人名字,的后面是歌名儿)——————–Natalie Merchant 和 John Adams 的 “Because I Could Not Stop for Death” Carla Bruni 的 专辑 No Promises—–是根据 Emily Dickinson的诗—–还有一些根据莎士比亚的诗改编的 比如:”Under the Greenwood Tree” – Donovan还有一张特别制作的叫When Love Speaks的专辑里面的歌有:”When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes” – Rufus Wainwright “No more be grieved at that which thou hast done” – Keb’ Mo’ “The quality of mercy is not strained” – Des’ree “The Willow Song” – Barbara Bonney “Music to hear, why hearst thou music sadly” – Ladysmith Black Mambazo”Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day” – Bryan Ferry———————–还有一些零零散散的由不是太著名的诗人作品改编的:A Bad Dream – Keane 是由诗 “An Irish Airman Forsees His Death” 改编”Those Dancing Days Are Gone” 和 “Before the World Was Made” a – Carla Bruni 是由 William Butler Yeats 的诗改编”Song Of Wandering Aengus” – Donovan”Stolen Child” 和 “The Two Trees” – Loreena McKennitt 也是由 William Butler Yeats 的诗改编的。”

“Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” – Dylan Thomas Do not stand at my grave and weep” – Mary Elizabeth Frye 由日本诗 “Sen no Kaze ni Natte”改编”Ballad of the Landlord” – Still on the Hill 由 Langston Hughes 的诗改编”The Waking” – Kurt Elling 由 Theodore Roethke 的诗改编Paysage – Les Colocs 由 Charles Baudelaire 的诗改编。

In My Secret Life – Leonard Cohen 当然这个歌其实很多别人也唱过还有非常有名儿的歌 The rose 的很多很多版本Sitting on the deck of the bay – Lisa Ono摇滚的可以找找 Slow motion – third eye blind 还有一个 The black Angels的乐队 他们的音乐在国内非常不好找,我可以给你一个链接你听听看/programs/view/2L6qhgSDXqs/。

Let life be beautiful like summer flowers and death like autumn leaves.

SONNET XVIII

SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO A SUMMER’S DAY

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;

Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

常常又遮暗他的金色的脸;

你不会失去你的俊美的仪容;

如果你在这不朽的诗句里获得了永生;

前者的when you are old 小巧玲珑,情致缠绵,深挚动人

the road not takenThe Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrown. Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should even come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference
